DIY: Jewelry Box

Emily and I were at Goodwill the other week and I found this for a whopping $0.97!

After a trip to Home Depot, we came back with a half pint of Valspar's Lyndhurst Duchess Blue and our very own Purdy Brushes.

After some sanding and about 4 layers.....

Ta da!

What do you think?

DIY: Sunburst Mirror

Alternate post titles: For cereal? Upcycled cereal boxes. Or - How to burn each of your fingers in under an hour.

Emily from My Name is Jellybean and I spent and afternoon crafting. We used the instructions from Under The Table and Dreaming by Stephanie Lynn. They turned out pretty well! We decided to paint them a flat black with light coat of a pewter.

If we were IKEA furniture...

I would be a desk. And Hubby would be a desk.

And together we are a chair....

What does that make you?

Night on the Town

Two-ish weeks ago, Dani and I celebrated her birthday (a month early) with dinner and a show at the Fulton Opera House.

It was fan-freaking-tastic! Highly recommended***** <5 Stars>

We realized that it had been the first time in 2 years that we had our own "girls nite." Thanks Dustin! :-)

DIY: Wall Art

We had 2 blank canvases laying around. Well, they were hiding behind our buffet in the dining room. Enter JoAnn Fabric. For a mere $6.99/yd I bought some abstract fabric and covered the canvases for some cheap-o art for our oddly proportioned wall.

Materials:
2 blank canvases
Small nails
Hammer
Stapler (for when your fingers are too bruised to hold the tiny nails any more)

Photo Gallery

We had piles of photo framer lying around so we decided to adorn a very blank wall (see sad wall below):

Choice A:

Choice B:

Choice C: Ta da! It's on the wall!

Issues we ran into:
The square frame to the right in choices A & B had no wall hangers, so back to the pile it went.
Being level! Had to enlist the hubby's help.
Marking and remarking nail holes 2...3....*cough*...4 times

Overall, we are pleased with the wall decor. Makes our white walls feel a bit more homey.
